Processing
Do I need an appointment to drop off an animal? +

Yes — please call or submit a scheduling request before bringing your animal in so we can plan accordingly.

What animals do you process? +

We process cattle, hogs, and other livestock year-round. Wild game (deer, elk, etc.) is accepted seasonally — call for current availability.

Is your facility USDA inspected? +

Yes. Brighton Locker is a USDA-inspected facility, which means our operation meets federal food safety standards.

How long does processing take? +

Turnaround time varies based on the type of animal and our current schedule. We will give you an estimate when you schedule.

What do I need to bring when I drop off my animal? +

Call ahead and we will walk you through exactly what to bring. For wild game, proper tagging is required per Iowa regulations.

Custom Butchery
What is a cut sheet? +

A cut sheet is a form where you specify how you want your animal divided — which cuts, what thickness, bone-in or boneless, etc. We can help you fill one out if you're not sure.

Can I get specialty cuts like tomahawks or short ribs? +

Yes. If you're interested in specific specialty cuts, let us know when you schedule and we'll confirm what's possible for your animal.

How is the meat packaged? +

We vacuum seal and label everything with the cut type and date. Packaging is freezer-ready.
